Danish director Lars von Trier compete for the eighth time in Cannes (from 13 to 24 May this year) with his new film Antichrist, starring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe . Trier
first competed in the festival 25 years ago with the crime element. Later, he awarded three of his films, Europe in 1991, Breaking the Waves in 1996 and Dancer in the Dark in 2000, which won the Palme d'Or and the prize Best Actress for Bjork.
Antichrist, written by the director, is a stark drama about evil and the love between two people. Gainsbourg and Dafoe as a couple mourning the loss of his son and decides to retire to Eden, a cabin isolated in the woods, where they hope to solve their problems and save their marriage. But nature in her way and make things go from bad to worse.
photography Antichrist has been undertaken by Oscar winner Anthony Dod Mantle , who has worked in many Danish films. The film was co-produced by Meta Louise Foldager for Zentropa, in partnership with Germany, France, Sweden, Italy and Poland.
